Cemetery Services
The City of Bethel oversees the operations and management of the City's cemeteries
The Bethel cemeteries are governed by the Bethel Municipal Code 13.20. The City Clerk's Office maintains burial records from 2005 to current. For burial permits and reservations or for general questions, please reach out to the City Clerk's Office at cityclerk@cityofbethel.net or 907-543-1384.
Arranging Interments
Prior to arranging funeral services for a loved one, a burial permit will need to be coordinated through the City Clerk's Office. You do not need to come to the Office to complete the burial permit, the information we need can be completed over the phone or by email.
When reaching out to the City Clerk's Office to arrange the burial please have the following information:
- Name of Deceased
- Birthday and Death Date of the Deceased
- Birth and death Location of the Deceased
- Contact Information of the Individual Making the Arrangements
Once this information is recorded with the City Clerk's Office, we will work with the family to identify the burial location. The City does, when staff time and equipment is available, provide burial site preparation free of charge. This will need to be coordinated at least two business days in advance of the services to help ensure scheduling time with our city staff. Once the site preparation date and time is set, we ask that the loved ones have someone at the location at the time of the City's preparation to assist. The City will only coordinate site preparation during regular business hours 9:00a - 3:00p Monday through Friday (days and times may change with staff availability).
Permit Costs
Burial Reservation: $150.00
If you would like to insure the family members are buried in the same proximity, please obtain a burial reservation prior to interments.
Burial Permit: $50.00
Burial permits are issued upon the passing of a loved one. Excavating the burial site is not a service offered by the City. The family must make their own arrangements for this service.
